Body Factory Bali Review: Is It Worth the Price?

Nestled in the vibrant Canggu district of Bali, Body Factory is a premier fitness facility that offers a unique blend of state-of-the-art equipment, luxurious amenities, and a thriving community. With its upscale atmosphere and comprehensive range of services, Body Factory has become a popular destination for both residents and visitors seeking a premium fitness experience.

Accommodation and Value

One of the standout features of Body Factory is its on-site accommodation. I personally stayed at the accommodation and found it to be a great value. The hotel-style rooms, offer the perfect blend of comfort and modern luxury, catering to travelers who value both comfort and practicality. The rooms are designed with a minimalist yet elegant aesthetic, using neutral tones and natural materials to create a calm, inviting space. The daily rate was around $110 SGD, which can be quite affordable when split with a partner. At approximately $55 SGD per day, it’s comparable to the cost of two day passes to the gym, making it a cost-effective option for those who want to combine fitness and accommodation.

After a long day of workouts or exploring Bali, the rooms become your sanctuary. With plush bedding, rain showers, and spacious balconies, the accommodations provide everything you need to relax and recharge. Every detail is well thought out, making your stay not only comfortable but indulgent. Whether you’re staying for a wellness retreat or a quick getaway, the rooms at The Body Factory make you feel like you’re in a home-away-from-home.

The day pass for the facility, which includes access to the gym and recovery area, is priced at approximately $30 SGD. While this may seem steep at first glance, it’s important to consider the value it offers. The gym provides a wide range of equipment and classes, and the recovery area is a luxurious oasis for relaxation. Additionally, members enjoy a 10% discount on food and beverages at the on-site cafe, making it a more affordable option for regular visitors.

Cost of Membership

Body Factory is one of the most expensive gyms I’ve ever encountered. It’s comparable to high-end gyms like Virgin Active or Pure Fitness in Singapore.

The gym offers two membership options: a gym-only membership and a VIP membership that includes access to both the gym and the recovery spa area. A one-month gym-only membership costs approximately 2.7 million Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), which is equivalent to around $200 USD. The VIP membership, which grants access to all facilities, costs nearly 4 million IDR, or approximately $285 USD. These prices are among the highest for gym memberships worldwide.

While the initial cost may seem prohibitive, it’s worth noting that longer-term memberships often come with discounted rates. This can make Body Factory more affordable for individuals who plan to stay in Bali for an extended period.

Gym Facilities

Body Factory boasts a well-equipped gym with a variety of machines and free weights to cater to different fitness goals. While the space may be slightly smaller than some other gyms in the area, it offers everything you need for a comprehensive workout. The equipment is generally in good condition, although some machines may show signs of wear and tear.

Body Factory Indoor Gym

The main gym area features multiple bench racks, smith machines, cable machines, and various other back, chest, and leg machines. There are also dumbbells that go up to 50kg, which should satisfy the majority of the population. For specialized workouts, there is a separate room equipped with squat racks, deadlifting platforms, leg presses, hip thrusts, and squat machines. Both rooms are air-conditioned, providing a comfortable environment for training.

The outdoor functional training area is small but usable. Working out in the Bali heat can be challenging, but it can also be motivating. This area features sled pulls, three large tires for tire flipping, jungle gyms, gymnastics rings, punching bags, and other equipment. Personally, I really enjoyed the outdoor area a lot, it’s something different from the gyms back in Singapore.

During peak hours, such as in the mornings, you may encounter wait times for equipment due to classes and find the gym to be quite busy. However, after lunch, the crowd typically thins out, and there isn’t the same 5-6 PM rush that you would experience in larger cities.

Recovery Area

The recovery area at Body Factory is a true gem. This luxurious space features a swimming pool, ice baths, hot pools, and a sauna, providing a serene environment for relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether you’re looking to soothe sore muscles, reduce inflammation, or simply unwind after a workout, the recovery area offers everything you need. There’s even an area equipped with day beds, sand bags and a pool – great for those looking to soak up some sun.

I personally found the recovery area to be a highlight of my experience at Body Factory. I spent countless hours enjoying the various facilities and found them to be incredibly beneficial for my overall well-being. The combination of hot and cold therapies, combined with the tranquil atmosphere, made it the perfect place to relax and recharge.

Body Factory Recovery

The recovery area is a particularly beautiful space that’s easy to get lost in. The large outdoor pool is the ideal temperature for the Bali heat and features a shallow lounge area (~10-15cm deep) that’s perfect for sunbathing while staying cool. You can expect to find a diverse crowd here, including influencers, digital nomads, and people from all walks of life.

Community and Atmosphere

Body Factory is known for its strong sense of community. The gym frequently hosts free massage sessions, community runs, and other events that foster a sense of camaraderie among members. This vibrant atmosphere can be a great motivator for those who enjoy working out in a social setting.

The gym’s staff is friendly, helpful, and always willing to offer advice or assistance. They create a welcoming environment that makes it easy to feel comfortable and motivated.

Classes

Body Factory has a long list of fitness classes they offer every day. You’ll find typical yoga classes, functional training, boxing, and even muay thai on certain days. Unfortunately, there’s no spin classes which I suppose would be very popular with the ladies.

For those interested in functional fitness and competitive challenges, Body Factory offers Hyrox classes. These classes simulate the actual Hyrox competition, providing a fun and challenging way to test your endurance and strength.

I participated in several Hyrox classes and found them to be a great way to push myself to my limits. The instructors were knowledgeable and supportive, providing guidance and encouragement throughout the workouts. The small class sizes allowed for personalized attention and a more intimate training environment.

Overall Assessment

Body Factory is a premium fitness facility that offers a unique combination of state-of-the-art equipment, luxurious amenities, and a vibrant community. While the price tag may be higher than some other gyms in the area, the value it offers in terms of facilities, services, and atmosphere can make it a worthwhile investment for those seeking a top-tier fitness experience.

If you’re looking for a gym that provides a well-rounded fitness experience and a luxurious environment, Body Factory is definitely worth considering. Whether you’re a seasoned fitness enthusiast or simply looking to improve your overall health and well-being, this facility has something to offer everyone.

The ads are annoying. Every time I scroll, I keep seeing ads. It’s so annoying and irritating because as I read, the ads keep popping up. It really makes people feel like giving up halfway through reading.

Thanks for your feedback, I understand that excessive ads can be disruptive to the reading experience 🙁 I’ve already made adjustments to reduce ad frequency and ensure they’re less intrusive. I will continue to work on the reading experience!
